On Tuesday (9/29) night, the IACA met to discuss a wide range of topics. Highlights of the meeting included:
Melissa Kapeckas led the community conversation on how parents can use our X2 database to support their students' academics. (see attached handouts) The group also discussed challenges and strategies which are inherent to parents checking grades. How often should I check grades? What is too much (or not enough) support? It was great to hear parents exchange their experiences.
Middle School social planning: Thank you for those parents who have volunteered to chaperone two halloween-themed upcoming dance: October 16th for 7/8 grade students and October 23th for 5/6 grade students. The cost is $5.00 / student and will run from 7:00–9:00 p.m. Admission is only open to IACS students. Approximately 14 parent chaperones are needed for each dance and must be CORI approved prior to the evening of the dance. While we have 6 parent volunteers (thank you!), we still need additional support in order to make the dance a fun and safe event. Please consider volunteering for these dances by e-mailing Jo Anne Frazier at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are available to help set up, chaperone or clean up.
Sales for Yankee Candle will begin this week. IACA will receive 40% of the profits. Packets are going home this week, but you may also purchase online and have them delivered directly to your home. See the IACA webpage for more details.
The next IACA meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 14th at 7:00 pm in the Library. We hope to see you there!
